         Help!

So I have been very busy lately and havn’t been able to spend as much time with Cookie as I would have liked. This morning I went to feed Cookie and he was making these weird noises. Not the slurping noises he usually makes, but some other noises. A little later I put some hay for  him and he hopped into his litterbox and made the same noises four times in a row (I think). I frieked out, so I watched him for A while and went into his pen and spent some time with him. I then picked him up and checked his stomach for any gas. His stomach feelt normal. I have bee noticing that he gets a little discharge around his nose. I researched ” bunny making weird noises” online and found a video of a bunny sneezing matched Cookie’s noises. He hasn’t made the noises since then. Please Reply as soon as possibale. I am really stressing out.

Any discharge from the nose is a cause for concern and could be an indication of several things, most requiring antibiotics or some for of treatment. I would not even hazard a guess..
Your best course of action is book into your vet and get Cookie bunny checked out and possibly ask for a culture if there is no obvious cause. It could be something very simple that treated early will resolve completely however even a minor condition untreated can become a major problem if allowed to progress.

I can’t go to the vet today. Do you think I could wait till tomorrow?

I’m not positive but it really doesn’t sound like an emergency to me. The point is make an appointment (if you can do that today otherwise soon as you are able) and bring Cookie in as soon as you can! The important thing is not to wait around seeing what will happen.

Has Cookie continued sneezing? How about eating, is that normal?

This is not considered an emergency, but I would make a vet appointment within the next couple of days. Like Roberta said, it could be something very minor but the sooner you get it taken care of the more likely it will not turn into something more serious. I ditto her asking your vet to do a culture. It could be something as simple as hay allergies but sneezing could also be signs of a respiratory problem. With bunnies, my motto is “if you think there might be something wrong, get it checked out”. Bunnies can be extremely sensitive and it’s important for bunny parents to be very watchful for any changes that could indicate health problems.

I spent a lot of time with Cookie this morning. He didn’t sneeze at all. Also his nose wasn’t running. I’m wondering if rabbits can catch a cold. Because the morning I discovered his sneezing, the night before I had mistakenly left the A.C. on all night, and it was pretty cold when we got up. Also the animal hospital I go to isn’t open on the weekends. For now I will call Bunny Bunch, an amazing place that I adopted Cookie from, and see what I can do.

Oh, also I just went to the vet about a week ago because I thought Cookie had sore hocks(and didn’t)and the doctor checked him up and he was fine. So could it have just been that whatever is going on with Cookie didn’t develop until now?
