Flin is on holiday in Cape Town and here her and pebbles (fully bonded and never fight) have an outdoor run during the day and are inside at night. Pebbles and flin have had fun digging in the grass a nd making burrows ((they any go very far). I noticed today that there was a little spot of dried blood on the pillow they sleep on and flin is holding her paw up when she’s still and kind of limping on it when she hops. I looked at it and she didn’t really mind me touching it and I couldn’t find any blood. Should I be worried about it and take her to the vet? She is still eating and drinking.

Could the blood be from a. Period type thing? They’re both around 8 months and are definitely girls?

Well rabbits don’t get periods so it’s not that. Are you getting them spayed soon?

I have to say that even though a rabbit is eating and is drinking, it does not mean they aren’t experiencing discomfort or pain…that being said, if it were my rabbit and she was limping and holding her paw up, I would at the very least want to have a vet check it out and prescribe pain meds if needed.

It wasn’t a nail that broke? I agree with Sarita, if she is limping it could be something more serious.

I would take Flin in to the vet. I second LBJ that it may be a broken nail. Or Flin may have hurt herself while digging. Either way you want to take her in to the vet to make sure that it doesn’t get infected.

Ok will take her to the vet first thing Monday. Due to being on holiday I don’t know of any rabbit savvy vets. Do you think An ordinary vet will have sufficient knowledge for this?
