         Hello everyone!

My boy bun Wesley has always been a mama’s boy, getting very depressed when I went away to college, so I bought him my girl, Sophia. They have been the best of friends for the past three years. I ‘m currently doing a dance intensive in Manhattan and am gone 5 days a week, and come back on weekends. For the last week, we have been fostering a young bunny whom we are trying to find a home. Since I’ve been back, Wesley has been acting strange..he has taken over the young bunny’s litter box, he lays down in it and sleeps in it, refuses cuddles from me and immediately goes over to the box. Its almost as if he is pouting. He is eating normally and everything, I am just a worry wart and hope he isn’t sick. He is prone to upset stomach, and has had liquid cecals a couple times in the last year. Instead of eating the hay in the litter box, I keep catching him munching on the litter itself (I use Carefresh premium soft bedding).

He still runs up and down the stairs and outside a bit but seems to get bored or tired easily and flops over quickly.

He just seems to be acting strangely

Is he just pouting because I am gone/there is a new bunny in town or could he be hiding a sickness?

        Thanks guys

Is he still eating and pooping properly? If everything else seems normal, he could very well be pouting. Bunnies don’t like change and all these changes may have left him upset. He could be holding a grudge toward you and he could also be feeling a bit territorial because of the new bun.

I tend to be a worrier, so prefer to take the road of caution and recommend you get him checked by your vet to make sure he’s OK. It does partly sound like pouting behavior – very common in bunnies. However, if the foster bun brought a little bug or illness to your home and he caught it, he may be sick, too. I think it would be a good time for a check up for him, or even all of them, to make sure they aren’t passing around anything. Bunnies hide illness, so any “off” behavior is worth paying attention to. Especially if he has runny cecals and upset stomachs, which can get dangerous if unattended.
