My husband dragged me down to Daytona today (during the coke zero 400, ugh what freaking traffic!) and to an exotic pet store to pick out a snake (shhhh, I know, I know). This is who we came out with:

Jack (previously known as Oreo) was dropped offat the pet store because a little girl had gotten him as an Easter present. The family was upset because he didn’t stay as small as they thought sothey dropped him off for “whatever” (according to the father). The cashier said that the little girl stayed in the store for two hours crying and saying good bye to the rabbit. The store owner refused to “do whatever” with the bunny and put him for sale. Needless t say, my husband fell in love with him and he came home with us.

yes, they are separated! Fiona has an appointment on Saturday to see when we will fix her as she’s only 10 weeks old now.  He is super friendly, doesn’t mind being picked up and loves Leo (my husband)! They will remain separated until he is fixed but we are doing small things to help them bond easier when we get to that point in a couple of months.

        Here are more pictures ofJack!

What a cute boy! I feel horrible for that little girl tho. That’s so heartbreaking 🙁 It’s too bad you don’t have contact info for them and can just tell her you have her bunny and he is loved. She’ll never know that he is okay…

If he was an easter bunny, he is definitely of “neuterable” age. Once that’s done, he needs to be kept away from your female for at least 4-6 weeks, and preferably until she has been spayed for a month.

He’s at least a year old. He’s going tomorrow to the vet And then we are scheduling him to be fixed. Fiona is only 10 weeks old, so we have a while to wait to get her spayed. But it’ll happen for both.

We go to that store often, but t he family had no other pets so I know they won’t go back for anything …that’s why I didn’t leave our info.

Congrats on the new bunny! He’s adorable.

I’m glad you plan on neutering him soon, just to re-iterate what Beka said, he can still make babies for 4-6 weeks after his neuter. I wouldn’t allow any contact between them during that time, even through cage bars (they can make babies through those too). I only mention this because I believe another member here was not informed beforehand that males could still make babies for a while after neuter and ended up with an “Oops Litter”.

Anyway, congrats again. I look forward to more pics of Jack!
