My rabbit has been over producing cecotropes. She does it very late at night or around 10 in the morning. She is 10 weeks old. We switched her food slowly for three days. Then decided to keep her on her normal pellets that she had been taking before so we slowly switched her back. The vet gave us benebac for her and she’s been taking it since Saturday but it doesn’t seem to be making a big difference. She is also not as bright and alert as her brother and sister. And always wants to be carried. The vet can’t find anything wrong with her. She’s a small animal vet who specializes in rabbits. She had already been tested for everything and had coccidia when we first received her but she was treated for it and now she’s cured. What could be wrong with her?

Her diet could be too rich for her. What kind of hay/pellets are you feeding?

Some rabbits just over produce cecotropes – as long as they are correctly formed it’s not a problem. I doubt it has anything to do with her behavior either.
