        Hello!

I haven’t been on Binkybunny for such a long time! I’m loving all the picture threads . I have asked sooo many questions on fur and shedding habits of rabbits and I still have more! My bunny, Buffy is a small Lion head rabbit and she is really fluffy around her bum area and near her neck. She usually sheds around her rear area, but for the past 2 weeks she’s been shedding eeveeeeeeeeeryyyyywhereeeeeeeee!!! It’s insane how much fur I pick out of her… I can’t even pet her. When i clean her cage, there’s small piles of fur in the corners of the cage and it’s scaring me a little. I don’t want her to swallow all that fur and get fur stuck in her digestive tract. I do groom her, and try to at least once a day, at most 2 times a day. I use those cat groomer brushes:

        http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Oscar-Frank-…0225728836

^^^ That isn’t the exact brush ( the color is different) but that is the kind of brush I use and it gets the fur out pretty well! After I groom her with that brush, I comb her with a human comb, not meant for rabbits, is that okay? It just makes the fur a little neat, doesn’t get that much fur out, maybe like 3 or fur pieces of fur. And also, where do papya tablets get sold? I live in Canada, Montreal and I don’t think there’s a pet store where they sell them. My vet supplies them but they are hella expensive! I’m going to Nyc in 3 weeks so are there any stores there?
        My questions are :
        1. how long should a grooming session take? Should I keep on grooming her? and it’s weird cause after I’m done her grooming her with the brush, i pet her, AND A TON OF FUR COMES OUT, so I get paranoid and I keep on her brushing her and I don’t know when to stop!

2 What can I do to stop the fur being so harsh and getting stuck in her digestive tract ( besides the papaya tablets).

        3. It is suppper hot here!!! Is that what’s causing the non-stop fur?

        4. She’s pretty tiny, and shes 1 year… am i feeding her too little and is that why there’s sooo much fur?

THANKK YOU SO MUCH ! and if i have more questions, i’ll ask em! you guys are such a good help!

The Binky Bunny Store sells them. Or you can try . http://www.montrealcritters.com I’m not sure if they have a physical store or if it’s just online.

Bindi is going through a HUGE molt right now, so I can relate. It’s insane how much fur comes off him. He’s covered in bald spots right now, doesn’t even look like the same bunny. He has pretty long fur, probably similar in texture to a lion. My methods to groom him are:

          1) Slicker brush. I use “Lil Pals” slicker brush I got at a petstore. It’s made for toy breed dogs. Works well on long, thick fur.

          2) Small comb. I use one that I got in a baby hair brush kit from the dollarstore. Works great to gently get mats out.

          3) Wet hands. This is the power weapon for getting off big chunks of fur that may otherwise get licked off and ingested. After I’m done using the brushes, I get a small bowl of water, wet my finger tips and smooth along bunnies fur, all over. Rub hands together to get off all the fur from your hands. I keep a container near me to put the fur in. Continue until no more loose fur is coming off.

          4) Give bunny a healthy treat to end on a positive note.

From what I know about shedding, it’s the change in daylight that most affects it. Although bunnies go through several big sheds a year. It varies by bunny. Diet doesn’t play a part in shedding patterns.
