Bless her little cotton socks, she still just spends most of her time sleeping in her litter tray! I want to give her a nice fleecy dog bed I have but cant until she is litter trained and wont pee all over it! Everytime she pees elsewhere in her cage i put the soiled litter into her tray (and remove her from it!) but she usually just goes right back! It’s a pain because I want to get her out & about more, but I live in a rented house so wee all over the carpet wouldnt go down well

She’s progressing quite well with her movement though, she loves a hop around out doors!

Anymore hints and tips for training the little madam? It really does seem to be a case of it being hard for her to move to she just pees where she is!

        Thanks, Anna, Belle & Barney

I think normal littertraining methods can be used but it’ll take a little more time with Belle. Plus she’s an unspayed female around a male so she’ll be likely to mark anyway
Swanson beautiful! I hope she continues to do well!
Have you cut a side out of the litter tray to make sure she can get in and out. Other members have placed puppy pads in the cage where she usually goes if their buns can’t use their trays x

Yeah she has a big ‘door’ cut in her tray so she can get in and out, the problem is she doesnt want to wee in it she wants to sleep in it like a dog bed!! I think I will buy her another tray today, fill it with hay and towels and make it really comfy … then maybe she’ll realise that one is for pee and she’s lying in her own wee!!!!!

With a disabled rabbit you are going to find that you have to number one – change your expectations about everything…number two – be creative about housing which means you are going to have to discover by trial and error what is going to work for your particular rabbit and their disability. Once you discover what works and get into a routine, it won’t be so frustrating.

What works for an able rabbit is definitely not always going to work for a rabbit with a disability.

Yeah thats definitely right, and she is only a baby still after all! I have bought her a new high sided tray and turned it into a nice comfy bed as i think she likes the support that having sides to lean on gives her
