So I have recently been letting my little bunz go up stairs to my bedroom area with less and less supervision as she seems to have let go of her need to mark up there as she’s gotten older.  However, I’m going to be gone for 2 weeks this summer and I’m having a house sitter come stay with her so I want to give the sitter the option to keep her out since most people don’t enjoy being awoken by her majesty at 6am.

So anyways, I’m looking to get a baby gate of some sort to block off the stairs easier.  I have a loft style apartment so there is no ‘just close the door’ option for me.  Before I just used a large cardboard box in front of the steps but it was a hassle to get around when I needed to go up their and my sitter is an older woman with a bad knee so I want to find something more manageable for her before I leave.

I know everyone says nix cubes or make something yourself but neither of those options are really viable where I live since i’ve never seen nix cubes and don’t have any idea where a hardware store is nor do I want to invest that much time or money (I don’t even know if I own a screw driver right now so I would have to get ALL the supplies) into such a project.

So does anyone have any brilliant ideas for me?

I found this  which looks like exactly what I want and it’s pretty cheap but it’s too wide because my stairs are super narrow.

The only thing i’ve found so far that looks like it’ll work is this one but it’s soooo expensive… I’m sure I can rig something up or let my sitter lock her in her cage at night if necessary but I think it would be best for all of us if I could just find a gate of some sort…

I was checking that website – and I was shocked to see how expensive Xpens are in Korea! I bought mine for about $35.00. This was the best price that I found… http://item2.gmarket.co.kr/English/detailview/Item.aspx?goodscode=168942302&pos_shop_cd=EN&pos_class_cd=90000001&pos_class_kind=T.

But it doesn’t require assembly – and you can easily block off the stairs, or contain him to a limited area, around his cage – so he’s not locked in his cage all night..

p.s. Did you grow up in Korea? Your English is outstanding. I’m Korean…but grew up in the US.

Yeah that kinda stuff is pricy here. I was lucky and a friend gave me a plastic x-pen type thing she had bought for her dog. Not ideal for the bunny butt but free is free.
My main problem with just blocking it off is a) it’s a hassle for my sitter who already has trouble getting around and b) my bunny is persistent and will spend the whole 2 weeks chewing/attempting to jump over/attempting to move whatever is blocking her from her beloved stairs. It’s gotta be tall and it’s gotta be immobile or she will get around/over/through it.

Haha oh no hun, I’m American. I just live in Korea now teaching English.
