Im new to owning a bunny and I’v had my baby lop ear for a little over a week and I couldn’t be happier. But the last two days shes been wanting to sleep all day and Im a little concerned. The weather has gotten a lot hotter over the last two days but I keep her cool with iced water bottles and a fan. Is it just the heat thats making her so tired? Or mabe shes bored with her surroundings, she has become very comfortable with me and I let her run around my room but it seems shes explored everything and now she just wants to sleep. Im just worried that this might not be normal. In the morning she is extremly active, running around and binking, from 6-10 then all of a sudden she seems really tired and will lay out and sleep until 10am to 8pm with the exception of getting up for food or water. She is most active in the morning and at  night which is normal but should she be sleeping all day? If someone could let me know and calm my nerves Id really apprectiate it, thank you .

It’s normal for buns to sleep during the day. My buns are very active around 5 am – till about 9…then they nap till about 4pm. They’ll get up around 4…but become much more active around 7-8pm.

So I wouldn’t be too concerned….but it will be good to see what others here say.

Welcome to the forums, Briar. Your bunny looks like the ones that were with my bun, Moogle. Maybe they are siblings! Anyway, Ashe and Moogle sleep all day also. They wake up around 6am for breakfast (whether I’m ready with it or not. If I’m not, they throw things around their cage or chew bars). After breakfast they lay around all day. Ashe sleeps under my feet while I play games or work on the computer >< so I have to be very careful where I step or roll my chair. They wake up again around 5pm and stay up til I go to bed, usually around 11ish. I believe it's called being Crepuscular, which means they are up at dawn and dusk

Sounds perfectly normal to me. The heat might also be adding a little bit to the sleepiness. Seems my buns want to sleep more in the summer.

As others mentioned, bunnies are crepuscular, so they sleep during the day and night, and are active around dawn and dusk. Mine sleep the entire day from about 9am-5pm, even if I’m home and try to interact with them. Totally normal.
