I cannot stand it anymore, my bunny thinks his litterbox is a digging box and it’s driving me insane (he especially likes to do this at night when we are trying to sleep and we use ear plugs and we still wake up). I don’t have the extra money at the moment because all my money is going to the apartment so we can live and have Caleb have a better home where he can be out of his cage more often. I’m not trying to be unrealistic here I know some bunnies prefer digging some prefer other things I know that but it’s getting a little tiresome for my boyfriend and I. We used to have a box in his cage where we would put a grassmat and he’d go to town digging it up but like I said little money at the time.

Our plan is to eventually build a sand box (or something more bunny safe if sand isn’t good for bunnies) under his table where his cage sits so he could go down to the sand box and dig all he wants. It would be boarded up so he couldn’t hop out (only up to his cage again) but this idea can’t happen for a little while (until we have the money to build his 3 story cage. Is there anything we could do in the mean time to allieviate his digging habit?

My first thought would be a litter box screen. If buying one isn’t in the cards right now you might be able DIY it.

This is what I’m talking about:

And here’s a video from BB about how it’s used:

Another idea would be giving him something else to dig to re-direct him. A dig box would be pretty cheap to put together, a cardboard box with shredded paper in it like these:

I love the shredded paper idea, why didn’t I think of that *forehead smack* lol thank you very much I am going to get one of those screens with the litterbox I just don’t have any extra money at all at the moment it’s killing me because I know that would solve the problem. I’m trying to get a job (just applied for one online actually so I hope I hear something back from them…..) and my boyfriend is waiting to get a call back from a job because he had an interview and they said if his background cleared (which it will) then he’s hired. So hoping that something goes through. thanks again, hey I added more pictures to Caleb’s picture thing if you want to take a look plus the picture online

I hope the dig box works out for you and Caleb!

Sending you and your boyfriend “getting job vibes”. I know it’s been something you’ve been worried/working on for a while. I’m LOVING the pictures of Caleb. He’s one of my favorite online bunnies. Just too cute.

thanks for the vibes yes, it’s very difficult to find one in my profession but I’ve also been applying for ones out of my profession, before I sent in this one I applied to work at Caleb’s vet office (still waiting). It’s the waiting that sucks, I mean if you don’t want me just call and say you aren’t what we’re looking for and I’ll be fine with that and stop waiting. glad you like them, I have to bring more of the pictures from my facebook on here like the one of him standing on his frozen thing, you saw it. The one where it looks like he’s saying “I’m the king bow down to me, and groom me at the same time”
