Has anyone heard of a bun having an allergic reaction to Revolution? I dosed the three buns with Revolution about a week or so ago. I was having some petpet time with Hugo today and noticed that he had dry skin flakes come off of him. Some flakes came off in big clumps while others were smaller. Since I dosed them with Revolution fairly recently I doubt that this is mites. And the skin flakes are right in the area of where I had put it on him. Has anyone heard of this happening or is it just mites.

This is the big skin flake that I saw that made me double check his shoulder area for flakes.

Here you can kind of see the flakiness.

Just to show you that this was the area that I had applied the Revolution and the same spot that there are flakes.

It can happen as stated on the instructions. Some animals may experience slight hair loss and flaking but it’s not an allergic reaction. It should only be short lived and the hair should start to come back withing a few days. I have not had any major problems aside from one of the buns and one of the cats experiencing some thinning of the fur in the area.

            Oh good to know Roberta.

SkippersMama, I had this happen recently also. It was the buns second dose and he didn’t have reaction the first time. Weird!

One of our cat (they used frontline, so its different) got some hair loss in the area we put it on once but it hasn’t happened since.

It looks like when Bam had mites. You should’ve seen the flakes he had two days after his treatment. Like your bunny’s but a thousand of them. They came off as the mites died I suppose.I had to repeat the treatment three times, two weeks apart, to get rid of all of it. He got a bald spot but the hair soon grew back.

But if it is an adverse reaction it doesn’t look like a very serious one.

When Abbie (my dog) had an allergic reaction to frontline she had a blood red rash all over her chest and belly and she was feverish. So that’s what I would look for. We no longer use that and now go for a natural remedy and use advantix if we make plans to camp in the woods or go hiking or something.

I think the flakes are normal to see and it’s not even that bad

Thanks guys I was just surprised. Skipper, who I have dosed repeatedly, has never had a reaction like Hugo’s. And since this was the first time I’ve dosed Hugo I just wanted to make sure everything is all good with him. I was just more or less baffled by the huge skin flake that had come off of Hugo.

NBO oh no! Poor Abbie! What sort of all natural remedies do you use? I’ve never really been a huge fan of Frontline. When we had tried dosing the cats with it, it just never seemed to work. That’s why we had moved to Revolution. It just seemed to kill things better.

Only Natural pet brewers yeast and garlic

She had the reaction about 3 years ago and every since then I give her one tab a day. (the vet gave me a bottle of 500 tabs and it was only like $15 a bottle)
Since 3 years ago she has only been administered 4-5 advantix applications because we made plans to go back packing/ camping or something with dense woods and I didn’t want to take the chance of getting infested with ticks or fleas. And I have yet to see a flea or tick on her for the last couple of years. And she loves the tabs! It’s like a daily treat for her
