Advice please on which handheld works best? I need one that can vaccum up up big things like hay and one that won’t break easily but would like a cheaper vaccum which is why I am thinking handheld.

Would also like to know about shop vacs, where to get them and prices.

Does anyone use either of these to clean up poops or hay? I have gone through and broken 3 different vaccuums since i’ve had my buns. The first wasn’t bunny related-I tried to vaccuum the litter my cat knocked out around her box using a mini vaccuum that is meant for college dorms. The second vaccuum had terrible suction and was my moms old vaccuum so I just returned it. The third was a regualr vaccum and got all jammed up with hay. We cleaned it out and it started working again fine but now isn’t sucking and we don’t know why.

THAMKS! I’m going to try and order a handheld online today.

My hubby and I just recently got a handheld vac for $40 from Target. It’s a black and decker product. The filter comes completely out so you can wash it after every time you use it and keeps from getting clogged. The suction works really well! We pick up out cats litter, Layla’s litter, her hay, and her poops!!! It also works really well on the couch for dog/cat/bun fur

I’ve had this vacuum for two years, and it’s GREAT for rabbits. It sucks as a normal vacuum, as it easily gets clogged with hair, but hay doesn’t seem to trump it. Because it’s so cheap, it doesn’t have a proper filter, so nothing gets clogged and you can easily dump it and clean it. The bottom part detaches and it becomes a hand held, which is super helpful for cleaning cages and carpets. The suction isn’t fantastic, but it’s more than enough to pick up poo and hay. I’ve been using it for the past month or so on my bun and I’m really happy with it. It’s also crazy cheap, so you can’t really go wrong.

I just have a basic $20 cheapie handvac. It works well enough to suck up poos and hay flakes that get around the carpet in the pen. And it’s not expensive, so if it stops holding a charge, I won’t be worried about tossing it and getting another.

I have the Hoover Air as my regular vacuum. The nice thing about it (and some of the other models) is that you can disconnect the hose at the bottom where the brushroll is. If I get some hay stuck in there, it’s easy to take off the hose and clear it out.

We have a Eureka upright and a Eureka canister, as well as a Black & Decker rechargeable battery handheld vacuum.

We also have a shop vac, but I don’t like to use it around my bunnies. It is very noisy and I’m afraid it could damage their hearing.
