We have a older bunny six or seven that has recently stopped using his litter box to poo. He is eating normally, and still uses the litter box to pee, but no longer uses the litter box to poo. Is this just old age? We clean out his litter box and area regularly. He has his own are that he is free to roam in, but I don’t like that he has started leaving droppings outside of his letterbox. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also he has always left some droppings outside the litter box, now it seems that he doesn’t even try to make it there. Bigger piles that would normally have been in the litter box.

has anything else changed? environment? brand of food? so many things can throw them off, sometimes age can matter if they are developing arthritis. Our Mr. Hopper is 8 and he is still immaculate on his litter habits.

What type of litter box do you have? Is it very shallow and easy for him to hop in there? If he has developed arthritis, which is very common for older bunnies, he may find it too painful and tedious to jump in the box every time he needs to poop.

Agree about the arthritis – good idea to have a full exam by the vet – xrays will show arthritis.
