Hi, I have never used the forums on this site befor but thought I would give it a go to get some advice. I just got my two rabbits spayed and neutered yesterday, since collecting them from the vets last evening the boy rabbit is doing fine, but the girl is not so great I have managed to get her to drink and eat a little (dandelions) but she hasn’t pooped yet she has done a wee but I was just wandering what u guys would recommend?  It has been about 15 hours since we got her home, would be great full of any advice, thanks

Suri was like this so I syringe fed her water to keep her hydrated and fed her her favourite herb (basil) to get her to eat. She ate lots of hay but didnt poop for a good 10 hours. I called the vet and let them know what was going on. Remember a spay is a full hysterectomy so it’s uncomfortable and she probably won the herself for a few days so let her rest, keep her hydrated and offer plenty of yummy food and hay if she doesn’t poop in the next few hours call the vet for an update and ask for advice. It’s important to let them know if your pet is under the weather after spaying so they can monitor progress and give you good advice.

That’s perfectly normal for a spayed bun to feel unwell and not like eating for a day or so after a spay. It is a pretty major surgery after all.

Try your best to entice her to eat. Sometimes fragrant herbs like parsley or cilantro help stimulate appetite.

Let us know how she gets on, hope she’s been tempted with some food. The vets recommended dandelion too!
