I have 2 male rabbits, Binny is 1.5 years old and Frankie just turned 3 months. Binny will constantly hump Frankie when they are out together. We recently got Binny an x-pen and just let Frankie run around during the day.

But Frankie loves Binny so much, We always stop it right when it starts. But can you teach them to stop? Or will i never be able to have them together?

They need to be neutered before you can try to bond them.

Are you sure Frankie is a boy now? I thought you said your hotot was a girl previously? I would separate them completely until a vet can confrim gender. If they are male/female they will need to be kept especially separate as it takes a second for them to make babies. If they are male/male than they will need to be kept separate until they’re neutered + a month for them to heal. .

            What sex is Frankie?
The only thing that might stop this behavior is getting them neutered. Binny still might hump to establish dominance but as long as they don’t fight it’s fine. You can work on bonding them a month after they’ve been fixed.

I though he was a girl, until i took Frankie to the vet and he confirmed he was a boy.

Are they fighting because of the humping? Otherwise this behavior is normal and there isn’t any reason to separate.

Agreed with the others. Humping can be caused by hormones and displays of dominance. Getting them neutered will most likely reduce the humping as the hormones will be under control.

My advice is to separate, neuter, let them heal for 30 days, and then try to re-introduce them. Keeping them together or trying to bond before neutering can make it harder to bond them later if they fight/have a reason to hold a grudge against each other.

No they do not fight, they love being with each other. But i don’t want Frankie to get hurt.

And When we let Frankie out he won’t leave Binny’s x-pen because he wants to play with him. He is always trying to get his attention.

Keep them separate until you can afford to neuter both of them. Even though they aren’t fighting now, Frankie is still young and they might start fighting when his hormones kick in.
