So I’ve had Henry for about two weeks now. It seems whenever I have my hand in his cage (just cleaning his messes) in one of the two back corners he lunges after my hand. He actually hit me last night although did not break the skin. I just recently put a litterbox in one of the corners as he had been going the bathroom there. There is one in the other corner too, but he doesn’t use it as a litterbox really. There is a third of in too he does not seem to mind me messing around with. He isn’t litter trained yet so I have boxes in where he seems to go. I’m sure he’d go in the other corner too but that’s where his water is so he can’t Any ideas as to why he does this? I don’t think he is scared. He can be out in the room hopping around and ill try to clean and he will come after me.

Yes, they are very possessive of their spaces and their litter boxes – it is best to clean his space when he is out and about…usually, I guess he’s just hyper sensitive about his stuff.

Hazel is very possessive of her litterbox in the mornings. I have two boxes that I swap in and out for ease and speed in the mornings before work, and I have been getting grunted and lunged at quite regularly in the mornings. I tell her “no” in a firm voice and continue to go about my business, but am thinking of wearing gloves. At night, she is usually a lot calmer and just begs for pets when I exchange the boxes. So weird, guess she’s not a morning bunny. Hoping some of the aggression will fade after she is spayed?
