So lately my lovely little monster has started nesting… Which I would have thought might be an issue, given that she’s been spayed…

She scrabbles in her blankets and has once or twice also ripped out her grey under tummy fur to line it with – shes still humping things like mad too.

A few of you might remember back when we had her spayed and there was a one-ovary-missing issue, where they couldn’t find it and are utterly confused what happened, whether it just never grew or what.

So the question is, is it time to go back to the vet and have a chat about hunting out ovary #2, or will this behaviour do her no harm? If she’s acting like a non-spayed bunny, then there is potentially still that cancer risk, and that’s my worry mainly.

        Any thoughts would be fab!

Oh yeah, I’m of opinion this needs to be addressed. From your other threads and this new behaviour it really sounds like the spay is incomplete. They possibly only attempted ovary removal instead of full hysterectomy. If that’s the case, I’d consider taking her to another vet.

          Sorry you’re dealing with this!

I’m not positive that this will be helpful – but rather than opening her up can’t they do an ultrasound on her to look for the missing organ?

What an odd situation. So sorry you have to deal with this also!

Thank you both 🙂 she’s booked in to be operated on again tomorrow – I spoke to the vet, and she’s certain that the ovary is still there – the uterus and other ovary has definitely been removed.

They did suggest blood tests, they weren’t keen to do an ultrasound as the condition isn’t directly life threatening.

              Paws crossed for her, please!

She’s also got very swollen nipples and is sitting funny… Any ideas on that one? Will check with the vet tomorrow in any case.

Just having a cheeky login at work to let you all know that Twitch has had her op, she’s doing really well (causing trouble already and demanding all the attention, apparently!) and the ovary has now been removed.

Can’t wait to get her home now!

Thank you for your help and thoughts

Wishing her a speedy recovery! Hope her nipple gets better too. Poor girl, going through so much at once.

Aw poor Twitch, having to go in twice for this op. It will better for her in the long run though.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Twitch!

Did the vet say anything about the swollen nipples?

Vet thought they would be hormone related – they weren’t very swollen apparently.

She’s still very sore but she’s off the medication and she’s hopping about and eating almost normally 🙂
