I got the most cutest Jersey Wooly from a breeder. They lied about this little ones age. She is just barely five weeks old, and I already have a rabbit but he wasn’t anywhere NEARLY this small when I got him!  I don’t know anything about dealing with a rabbit this age. She can curl up in my palm! That’s how small she is! I’m flustered because I know this is a crucial part in her life. I’m also slowly introducing her to my other rabbit. I’m paranoid he would hurt her, although he is a sweet, non nipping bunny also. I need any advice you can give me  diet, bonding with Martin, a name (I seriously am having trouble finding a name for her that goes with Martin, and she really doesn’t have a personality yet…), exersize nd most importantly, HUMAN SOCILIZATION. I want her to be friendly. Thank you so much for reading this and any advice you can give on a rabbit this small will be helpful!

Most importantly – do not keep introducing them. Before attempting to bond you will want both buns spayed/neutered to prevent any fighting. Even if they seem like they are getting along when those hormones start kicking in they can really become aggressive (and dangerous) to other rabbits they are living with. Also, if they bond and then get into a traumatic fight it can make bonding VERY difficult in the future.

Has this bun been weaned properly? I would contact the breeder and find out all the information you can get about the bun. I would suggest having the newbie seen by a vet so they can put you in the right direction on diet.

Others will probably come along with more info on dealing with a bunny this young though!

            Hi Maurice,
5 weeks is way to young I agree. However by this age they can eat on their own. Ideally another 3-4 weeks of Mums cecals to nosh and the occasional serve from the milkbar would help build up the intestinal flora she needs. Coming from a breeder however the poor mumbun has probably already has another litter to care for.
Not sure where you are but Oxbow have good age relevant products, we struggle to get them here in Australia.
My Pepper and Piglet were babies rescued from a backyard meat farm and were barely 4 weeks old when I got them. I fed them an unlimited diet of pellets and hay. Because they had been living rough in the garden and being fed old turnips etc I also included fresh greens (fresh greens are not good for a young rabbit that has not been use to them). Due to their previous living conditions I will never feed my buns parsnips or turnips or anything of that nature. They get the best in fresh herbs and greens.
Maybe if you post a pic we can suggest some names for her.
I am assuming Martin is neutered otherwise I would hold off on all and any contact until he is then allow a month for him to be truly sterile (learned that the hard way !!!) As little bun is so tiny I would be wary of letting them together unless you are holding one or the other. If Martin has a sudden outburst she would be too tiny to cope with the attack and could be emotionally scarred as well as physically. Hopefully the others will have some good bonding tips.

Yes – as Tanlover said, it’s probably entirely too soon to introduce such a young baby to your rabbit. Our bun Baxter seemed like the sweetest, most gentle bunny, until the baby bun joined the household. He would grunt, lunge, nip through the gate and marked like crazy. So we decided to wait till the baby was full grown, and could defend himself, when we bonded them. They were in separate areas of the house, until the baby was ready.

Yes he is neutered. And I definitely plan on waiting just to give myself some piece of mind. Thank you so much for the dietary information. Martin is on a no artificial no byproduct diet, so all he eats is Timothy, a bit of alfalfa because he is still growing (like, once a week a Tiny pinch). And as for treats, we have a list of dos and donts from my vet and we dehydrate our own treats for him. And we do Zoprerm the expensive kind with straight Timothy and no treats in it. She was on perina rabbit chow, so I’m kinda scared of switching her over because I don’t want to shock her tiny system THANKS EVERYONE I DI APPRECIATE IT!!! )))))

This is my new little wooly. I’ve been thinking of Luchia. She tops off at 2 ounces and she loves to snuggle in my shirt right under my neck
