Twig has some white discharge coming out of his eye. It started about 4 days ago. I flushed his eye out because I thought that it could have been some hay or something in his eye and it cleared up but it came back yesterday so I flushed his eye again but it is still bad today. It has a little bit of white goop that came out when I cleaned up his eye and his eye is very red and his eyelids are swollen in the one eye. I called all of the vets that treat rabbits in my area and they all said to make a apointment for monday so what can I do for him until then?

All you can do is just continue to clean it really.

A warm compress might be soothing.

You can try gentle pressure just under the eye to see if it helps clear out more of the goop.

Poor Twig. It could be a scratch or infection. Glad you are bringing him to see the vet.

Thanks, I’ll try the compress. It seems to be clearing up and his eye is not as red anymore. I hope it is not a scratch but one of my rats did get out the day before this happened so maybe she scratched his eye.

The internet was not letting me on here yesterday so I could not update this. His eye was better so I did not take him in to the vet. I am going to be keeping a really close eye on him few a while.
