        Hey,

Ive had my rabbit Cthulu (choochoo for short) for a few years now. He just turned 3 in April. Hes a happy well adjusted bun who never growls. He doesnt give kisses often but comes up to me and rubs against my hand till i pet him. As long as I keep my floor clean he doesnt leave much poop around and doesnt usually pee anywhere, but he has a major problem with peeing and pooping  on the bed. Ive heard this is a common problem with bunnies and it might stop if I got him fixed. Mostly I just try to keep him off the bed. What confuses me is my boyfriend took care of him for a few days while I was on vacation and he was a complete angel at his house. He never peed or pooped anywhere in his room. My boyfriend even let him sleep in the bed with him! This makes me very sad because I could never sleep with Choochoo because he will inevitably use my bed for a toilet. Does he like my boyfriend more then me? Or is it because he will respect another male’s space more than a girls? Also im still thinking about getting him fixed to stop his peeing behaviour. Why does he only pee in MY bed and is there a way to stop it? Thankyou,

        Kathryn

Your bed is in his territory and it smells way too much like you and not enough like him. He needs to mark it to make sure everyone knows that’s his bed.

Bunnie peeing on their humans’ bed/couch is a common problem as this is an area that smells a lot like the person.

Neutering may help the behavior but don’t count on it completely eradicating it. Bunnies that are fixed later in life can sometimes retain these types of behaviors more so than a young speutered rabbit.
