I’ve had Brighteyes for a few days now and I’ve moved his cage into my room so that he can sleep close to me… However there is a thunderstorm happening tonight and I think it might be scaring my bunny…

He is in the corner of his cage, breathing quite fast and whenever thunder is heard he stomps in his cage… Does this seems like a fear of thunder to you guys as well? Is there any way for me to comfort him?

If I remember correctly, his eyesight is not the best. Because he disproportionately relies on his other senses, maybe he’s more sensitive to loud noises?

I don’t have much experience with rabbits hating thunder, but my little silky terrier positively hates it. Giving her places to hide helps relax her. She doesn’t want to be held, surprisingly, or comforted. She just wants a room with no windows and the lights off.

Maybe it would help to give Bright Eyes a little rabbit house so he can hide in it? That’s probably what I would do.

I definitely will get one for him… We don’t really have anything suitable right now… I scratched behind his ears and he seems to have calmed down now… I put a sheet over his cage to help muffle the sound..

My bunnies only seem upset or startled by the really loud thunder, the kind that shakes the house. I usually go sit in there with them and pet and talk to them.
