  So, I’m on day 4 of bonding Sirius and Sybil. They are both spayed and neutered. They have been living side by side in cages for about 2 weeks so they are used to each other. They share the same run space, taking turns having run time.
  
  My question is, how can I tell how it is going. On day 1, Sirius was grooming Sybil and she didn’t return it. Day 2, there was a little scuffle because Sybil took a potty break and got territorial but I don’t think he realized what happened because I got scratched not him. Before she pottied, he was grooming her, so it seems good. On Day 3, he continued to groom her. I introduced food and she got aggressive over the hay so I took it out. He kept grooming her and eventually she laid down with feet out to the side and he watched.
  
  So is everything going well? I’m not sure how to introduce food and when I should move on to the next step. I also don’t have a semi-neutral area to try. They are only allowed in two rooms in our house. The one they share now and the one they will be moving to when they get their bigger cage. I’ve been using their new room for bonding since they have never been there.

  Yeah, I read that and everything I could find on the web. I can leave them alone for short periods of time and nothing happens. There haven’t been any fights. I guess I will try their mutual play area and see what happens

  I’d say if you are only on day 4 and there is grooming and signs of relaxing (laying stretched out), things are going very well.
  
  How long are your bonding sessions?

  Bonding sessions are usually thirty minutes. I go a little longer if it seems like they want to.

  That’s my advice. They seem to be doing well so start making the sessions longer.
