I picked him up 3 weeks ago and he had a little bit of a wet nose, after 5 days I heard a rattle on his chest. I took him to the vets and the put him on antibiotics and that soon cleared it up. Inbetween those 5 days I did everything to make sure its not anything in  the house irritating him due to him being a house bunny. now after the antibiotics finished he still has sneezing fits.

Can anyone suggest something? Poor monty spends most of his time sneezing

I would take him back to the vet. These infections can be stubborn, he might require a longer course of antibiotics or possible a different one. If he has nasal discharge your vet could take a sample for culture to determine what the specific problem is.

I took him back to the vets the other day seen as its been a week since he finished his course, they said his chest sounds clear and the wet nose has gone. But he still continues to have sneeze attacks.

Have they checked to see if there is anything in his nose ? I would still get them to have another look as it could be a second infection.

Good Idea Miss Vee a second opinion is always a good move, you never know a different vet may have more experience with this particular situation. Not bagging your other vet but they may not think to look for something unusual that they haven’t encountered before.

You might want to suggest the vet do a culture.

I have this exact problem with a new baby we rescued from a pet store.

Do you notice any discharge from his nose? Or runny eyes?

The vet our bun went to first put her on antibiotics which cleared up the discharge from her nose and her runny eyes. But she still has sneezing fits, not as often but they are definitely still there. So we took her for a 2nd opinion. Like your bun she is showing no irritation in her nose and there is nothing visible to the vet. Key word, visible to the vet. The new vet has decided to flush her nose with water to see if she has something stuck way up that is causing the irritation. I would talk to your vet about having this done.

We are also concerned about something in the house irritating her – so in the meantime, shake the hay out before you give it to her to get the dusty particles out as good as possible. Same thing with litter if you use a litter that could cause irritation from being dusty. We are investing in a humidifier also as someone else on BB (I believe Jerseygirl) suggested.
