         Hi everyone.

So for my rabbits, I let them free run of my room and then at night I have to lock them in there nic cage that is about equivilent to an ex-pen(I have two bunnies).

I have two, heavy ciramic bowls for their water and latley when they have been locked up in there cage at night, they have been flipping them over. At first it was just their taller one so I ended up just leaving their one dish in the cage at night but somehow they have managed to flip that one too. It is a heavy, low to the ground dish but they still flip it totally over and I don’t know how.

Does anyone know of anything that could help. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Water-bottle? My bun would also turn his water-bowl upside down when I first had him, or he managed to poop in it. I think he did it because he was bored, not the pooping but the flipping over. They can be active in the night and perhaps there’s not a lot to do in the cage when they’re shut in for the night.

Sometimes it helps to give them f ex twigs to chew (apple or willow f ex) much like you’d give a dog a bone to chew. It’s good for their teeth too, twig-chewing.

I actually have the same problem with my rabbit she loves to top hers over she doesn’t do it all the time. Here is a solution http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=6067+10382+25667&pcatid=25667 I prefer to use a water bowl instead of a water bottle I like bowls better!

They so have a lot of toys in their cage but they still manage to get bored. I have seen those dispenser at walmart but are for cats. Thanks for the suggestion. I think I might try one of those water dispenser and hopfully they don’t try to flip that too

We have this problem with our craaazy buns and wanted to switch from the water bottles to something else. We took the same approach as Kamdynandsunshine and it’s been perfect for them.

I had one of those water jug/dishes for my cats and they are great but you have to wash them very regularly or the base of the bowl gets really slimy and nasty.

I prefer water-bowls as well, but when I first got Bam he would flip any bowl over, or if I used a heavy enough bowl, poop in his water, so I had to get him a water-bottle. Then I re-introduced a bowl months later and that was ok with him. He has both a bottle and a bowl now, but he never touches the bottle anymore and he’s lost interest in flipping the water-bowl over.

It seems like a rabbit can get a fix idea about something, like when Bam decided he HAD to get up in the sofa – I blocked it off and after a while he seemed to forget all about this once so important project of his, so I could unblock the sofa again and he’s not been interested in it since.

Winston uses the Midwest Snappy Fit bowl- I like it because it is stainless steel and pops in and out of its holder. I have it elevated a tad so he can drink from it but not sit in it.

The only drawback is that it fits really tightly into the its bracket so I have to put it back on the cage empty and then fill it. I can handle that part, though.
