Does anybody know what woods are safe to use in a rabbit habitat? I know treated woods are filled with chemicals, therefore very dangerous, but are there any certain types of wood that could be harmful?

Also, are there any wood stains that are safe for rabbits? I’ve decided to attempt building my own cage using wood and rabbit wire (this was my inspiration: https://binkybunny.com/wp-content/uploads/converted_files/Portals/0…moxie1.JPG) , rather than use NIC cubes or a X-pen, and I would like the wood to match the rest of my furniture, if possible, and obviously I don’t want to accidentally poison my pets in the process.

        Anyways, that’s all. Thanks.

I know solid pine is safe for bunnies. Poplar is safe. I know someone will chime in with a list.

I am not sure about the wood stains but I would think they would be toxic to rabbits, any kind.

             Thank you.

Do you think it would be safe to only stain/paint the outside of the habitat, and leave anything exposed to the rabbits on the inside untreated?
