Humping bunny

I went away for a week on vacation and when I came back, Nugget became a horny teenager! Last weekend, I was on the couch and Nugget kept rubbing my leg with his chin and was drawn to my shin like a magnet. I pushed him away and he kept coming back. I finally got off the couch and he started circling me like he usually does, but this time, it was different. I ran away from him and he chased after me while honking and buzzing like a horny little devil. I knew he wanted to hump me, so I grabbed my stuffed strawberry and encouraged him to hump that instead of my leg. It was the very first time I’d ever seen him hump something and it was freaking adorable/hilarious! His tail wags so fast like a happy dog and he collapses afterwards while breathing heavily. The bf could not stop laughing when he saw his crazy tail go off!

Does anyone else find their humping bunny amusing?

That’s exactly how Spockie used to behave. The whirling, spinning tail really got to me. I actually stopped wearing shorts because of it, and to this day I forget to wear them in summer because I got used to jeans in hot weather.

Sometimes he would just do it alone in his cage while sitting on his platform. It looked so lonely, but he did his thing with his widdle toothpick, then he was spent.

Time to get your boy neutered, eh?

Does it get worse as time goes by? He hasn’t been doing it as much in the last couple of days, but I don’t know if he does it when he’s home alone. I am planning to get him neutered in the next couple months… hopefully his personality doesn’t change afterwards. I also heard that some still hump after being neutered or spayed, is that true?

Humping can still occur after they are fixed, but it is purely a dominance thing. I wouldn’t be too worried about his personality changes. If there are changes, they typically are for the better!

My bunny humped my dogs leg before he was neutered, that’s stopped completely. That was the reason I got him neutered, his infatuation with the dog and his tireless courting of her. She found it bothersome, he never left her alone and he even bit her in his intense efforts to make her love him back. (She’s a German Shepherd, he’s a 4 pound dwarf lop.)

Your bunny is very handsome! And Strawberry looks quite happy.

Thank you for your answers! Even though his humping isn’t too bothersome, I know it will be better to get him neutered to prevent any bad personality changes that may occur in the future. Also, somewhere down the road I want to adopt a rabbit friend for him.

Harley only humped once and it was like a week after his surgery and I thought he was about to die lol He was humping my Abbie’s bed and he fell to the side and made a REALLY shrill noise laying on his side breathing heavy lol I was really scared because I wasn’t aware they made a noise but he was back to his bouncy sell after a few minutes rest and he never humped in a sexual way again. He only humped during bonding for dominance purposes.

I find it kind of funny when bunnies hump. Everything they do is just so adorable.

Funny story….My buns get Oxbow cookies after their run in the morning. They know the routine. Before I put Bindi in his condo I give him a cookie. He will often try to hump my arm/the cookie bag when he thinks it’s taking me too long to get the cookie out. He just gets so excited he loses control. Talk about a cookie monster!

Thank you! I got lucky with this shot when he perked his head up. That is so funny that he humps over a cookie! I would love to see that… maybe I’ll test it on Nugget sometime. His humping has decreased but he’s been finding new things to chew on and more frequently too which is stressing me out. I have to take a day off of work to get him neutered asap!
