Hi everyone just wanted to query something .

I’ve just seen one of my bunnies first cecotropes . I think I saw her eat one and leave the next one.
I think it is diet related as previously I just game them a few handfuls if pellets a day and then I read on many websites and asked several people who said at 11/12 weeks they should be on unlimited pellets so I upped the amount. Do you think that’s what may have caused the extra cecotropes? They are on burgess excel tasty nuggets for rabbits … The adult one which is supposed to be 16 weeks plus because the pet shop said that’s what they were on. They have a mix if Timothy hay and meadow hay which they don’t seem to eat much of but they graze outside a lot

One cecal is nothing to worry about. If you start seeing lots of them, that’s abnormal.

Just make sure any dietary changes, like upping the pellet amount, is done gradually.

I wouldn’t worry about a few extra cecotropes – some rabbits just leave more than others and while it may be diet related it may just be your rabbit. As long as the cecotropes are well formed – not mushy or runny, you have nothing to worry about other than having to clean them up.
