Hi everyone! My name is Aria. I go by “A” but thanks to a recent TV show, it’s a big joke among my friends! Anyone else a fan of Pretty Little Liars? Anyways, I’ve loved bunnies my entire life, had them as pets since the age of 7 (that’s almost two decades for me!), and have always kept them inside. I must say this forum as offered me a breadth of information that I never even knew was out there!

So, I’ll introduce myself and then introduce my bunnies. I am in my mid-twenties and live and work in Manhattan, NYC. My two most obvious passions are my rabbits and my shoes! The budget for shoes is about 2x the rabbit budget, and the rabbit budget is about 2x my human grocery budget, lol. I think I’ve only got a few more years left before I will need to seriously reconsider my priorities! My bunnies are my first loves, though. And they get as much attention as I can give them on a daily basis. They’re just super sweet. I also have a sweet tooth… hence the pattern you’ll soon come to realize…

First is Skittles. He’s 7 years old. He was a gift from a professor when I was in university. My professor always talked about his rabbits in class, and when he said his rabbits had babies, I was at his office hours in a flash!

Skittles, as precious as he is, really loves to chew on my shoes, and I’m sure you can understand how distressing that is! I’ve kept all the heels he sunk his teeth into because I just think it’s a bit cute to see the teeth marks, especially from when he was younger. He is really mellow and friendly. Loves to be picked up and petted, even by strangers! He also gets “bad vibes” from bad people. I won’t go into detail, but in the past, he has thumped when evil people get too close to me!

This is Starburst. Sadly, she passed away last autumn, only two days after this photo was taken. I’d rescued Starburst about five years ago… her previous owner had shot her with a bb gun, so I had to get surgery for her to remove one of the bullets when she was younger. She never fully recovered from her injuries. I gave her a happy life, but she was at the vet fairly often for one thing or another. She was my baby. She a bit on the shy side, soft, her fur always shined, and she loved cheek rubs. She also clung to Skittles like she was a part of his fur. For them it was love at first sight. I’d never seen a bond happen so quickly! Both of us were absolutely heartbroken when she passed away.

A while after the devastation, I hosted foster rabbits, with the intent of adopting one, but Skittles was a picky little bugger! He got along OK with all the fosters, but didn’t seem to have that spark. All the fosters found homes, but I had to put my foot down when Ginger came into my life and I am praying it works. Ginger actually found me in a bit of a bizarre event. A breeder gave her to me while I was in a pet supplies shop. Concerned with what would happen if I didn’t take her, I opened my home to her.

She is an absolute sweetheart. About five months old, she was just spayed a week ago. She’s still not ready to hang out with Skittles like Starburst used to, but they both seem to show a pretty intent interest in one another. A Ginger is certainly an attention-craver. She can’t get enough of it.

I’ve always named my bunnies after candies (Twizzler and Snickers were my bunnies growing up), but Ginger is a bit of a diva, so I’ve named her after my favorite spice girl!!

Lastly, this is the condo that Skittles and Ginger share. Currently the two levels are blocked off with some heavy tiles to divide them, but once they bond, hopefully the tiles can be removed!
