Lucy had her spay surgery yesterday. I blocked off the second level of her cage, so I thought it would be nice to build a small pen around her cage so she would be able to move around a little bit more. That went fine all day, until an hour ago someone knocked on the door and she freaked out and jumped out of the pen!!!! (OH MY GOD) Normally that isn’t too big of a deal, but she just had her surgery yesterday! I checked her incision and it looks normal, but I’m still freaking out a little. I know that after surgery they aren’t suppose to run or jump for a little while. I feel bad just restricting her to only her cage though.

If her incision looks ok. Don’t fret. Keep her in her cage for a bit. I know how it feels, I felt TERRIBLE locking Sally up for 3 days. But I let her out the 3rd day and she jumped on a box making her incision bleed a little so she had to be back to confinement for another 2 days. It’s better to just wait out the long stretch than something happening causing her injury and just making the healing processes last even longer.

Also, keep in mind that your bun is on pain meds to help ease pain so she may think she feels well enough to jump around but she isn’t. Give her some time to heal

She should be fine, just keep her calm now and warm.
