FINALLY we have the cage ready. I posted here earlier about my problem with the bunnies cage area, since our kids got their own rooms and the bunny room was given to my older daughter. So, to fit the bed and the cage took almost the whole room. I didn’t like it, it was uncomfortable for both my daughter and the bunnies. Cleaning was also a nightmare. So, my hubby agreed to buy a bunk bed, of which we removed the lower bunk, and built the cage under the bed. Here it is:

They love to sleep on the first level, which is kind of cavelike box. It has wheels under it, so we can pull it out completely, and so cleaning is very easy. The second level is also a nice place to sleep it seems, especially the space under the third floor. They are not so much free range at the moment, but they get lots of time outside the cage. They also seem happier, they do binkies every time we let them out (which they didn’t do so much during the cage setup problem) and now they have a very big cage to hop around, up and down. The dimentions of the cage: the lowest floor (box) 190cm x 90cm, second floor 120cm x 90cm, third floor 120cm x 90cm.

        So, what do you think

That’s awesome! You guys did a great job.

I’m glad you figured out a set up that works out for both your human and fur kids.

That is an awesome idea! I would not have thought of making that way.

What prevents them from squeezing out under the bottom rail? I can’t figure that part out.

Oh my goodness! I am in love with the way that looks! My bunnies cage used to be under my loft bed and it worked great, but I love this idea!

Eepster: The space in between probably looks bigger than it really is, they actually can’t even fit their heads out from the crack. Trust me, they are very clever with squeezing themselves out from the smallest spaces, and we built this that in mind

mocha: Thank you I’ve seen your setup on youtube, and it also looked great! (I love your videos, always looking forward to see a new one )

That looks great. I would love to add that to Habitat gallery. Do you also have a wider shot that shows it under the bunk bed?

Of course you can add those pics to the Habitat gallery. I’m not sure if I have a wider picture, but I can check, and if I don’t, I can take one later on.
