After a training session with Vienna ( I’ve been trying to train her to jump over a bean pole without much luck       ) she’s been sticking her nose into my hand/through my fingers/trying to eat my hand. Is she grumpy ( she’s been shaking her head at me ) or hungry ( she isn’t normally that food orientated, but it’s only about 30 mins till her feeding time ) ? She had some carrot and half a dried cranberry if that helps.

EDIT: it’s now one ear up, one ear down time , she does not like training

If your training with treats, she’s very likely learned that treats reliably come from your hand and shes looking for them!

On that note, maybe she is thinking she needs to get the treats from your hand, and not that she needs to do something to earn them (Very common in early training with dogs) have you taught her anything else (so she knows she has to do something for the treat)? Are you using a clicker?

I agree with K and K – sounds like you inadvertently taught her a new trick! Clicker training is useful because your bunny learns to associate the noise with a reward, instead of going to your hand for the reward.

I’ll try the clicker, I gave up on it last time, every time I used it she got nervous and bolted away so I couldn’t give her a treat.

You can make a special sound instead of using a clicker as long as you are consistent and don’t make that sound under any other circumstances. Like if you click your tongue in your mouth 3 times as the cue, then reward the behavior. Don’t do anything at all unless she does the behavior right after you make that sound. Also, be sure you’re not asking her to do something too complex for one move. You may just train her to move forward and stop on that sound, then each time she does it, small reward. Then put the bean pole down low in front of her and still reward moving forward. If she goes over the pole, it’s rewarded. If she goes around, it’s not.
