Hi everyone, I was looking at my rabbit Misty last night and noticed she had a small spot of missing hair on the back of her right ear. It does not appear inflamed(just healthy pink skin), and there is nothing that looks like dandruff. I’m thinking she just accidentally scratched the hair off in that spot. Any thoughts will help, here’s a picture to make it easier to identify.

        Thanks,

It being on the tip of her ear, it looks like she’s scraped it somehow. Maybe even when she was grooming herself?

Is she with another rabbit? Do you have other pets also?

Yeah I agree, when grooming herself she will scratch her ears sometimes. And she is not with another rabbit, she lives in my room by herself. Also, I have two dogs but they live downstairs and never interact with her. I’m hoping it isn’t fur mites, and thankfully it doesn’t seem like it because that spot has not become any larger today.

Have you cleaned Misty’s ears lately? When my little lop is having ear issues she’ll scratch the hair thin on her ears. If her ears appear flaky it would be mites. It looks as if it’s a scratch though. Does Misty have long nails? Maybe she scratched herself on accident because of how long they are.

I found Rupert scraped his ear once just after I’d clipped his nails, sometimes after a clip there are sharp spots so that might be what happened if you clipped nails recently.

I haven’t cleaned her ears lately, thanks for the tip. And I think her nails do need to be trimmed(it’s been a few weeks), so I suspect that’s how her ear got scratched. I’ve checked her ears also and I haven’t seen any flakes. So do you guys think it’s just from her nails then?
