My Bunnies love their new home, didnt even want to come out for free range time today. . .  and they are getting used to me, sort of. I have accepted that they will probably never WANT to be picked up, and they are not really cuddly type of creatures. I get it, they are prey animals who live on the instinct of fear.

However, yesterday the coolest thing happened. The guy i took these two from came to my house to see my husband (they are friends. . . no matter how much i hate him) He was impressed that i would give them such a large cage, and went to go pick up Biggins. Of course, Biggins was squirming and kicking and freaking out. he then JUMPED out of the guys arms, and ran over to me. Biggins then CURLED UP in my lap and nuzzled me. I was pretty smug. . . and shocked.

Im wondering why Biggins doesnt act like that all the time. It is obvious to me that he remembers this guy and does not like him. But would he really all of a sudden show affection for me just because this guy was here? Then why can’t he do that all the time? It was sweet. . . i felt like he really liked me. . . but then i realized he probably just knows i treat him better.

I’ve never experienced this but I have heard members say their buns act similarly at the vet. They go so far as to jump into their owners arms to try to get away from the vet!

Stickers is the most hands off bun I have ever been around but when I was bonding her and Powder, if Powder stressed her out too badly she’d climb at me begging to be picked up like a puppy.

I had something similar happen with my last rabbit when we had to spend a few hours in an unfamiliar place. I took it as a vote of trust, that he knew he was safe with me. Later I felt it was a turning point in our relationship since more and more after that he liked to lie in my lap. I have no idea if that was unusual, but I feel your little one was expressing faith in you, a sense of knowing that you would keep him safe from someone he feared.

Awww…Biggins knew you would protect him from “the bad man”.

Olivia will do as Beka mentioned. The only time she ever wants to be picked up is at the vet or when she’s had enough of my grooming. She will try to jump on my shoulder. She’s succeeded and I have to yell for Ricky to help get the bunny off my back.

Hahahah! Poor bunny recognizing him BUT amazing that your furbaby did that!

My Tans aren’t cuddly at all either. But every time they’re at the vets they are ALLLLL over me. Well Tanger just wanted to explore but he’s not a typically scared bunny when he’s not being held. If he can move around, he’s curious. The other Tans were like glue to us! It was so cute and funny. I joked we should take them more often so we get more lap time with them!

LPT – Sidney has a problem with always jumping up on our shoulders so she can periscope around the room! It’s hysterical.

Bam did that the first time I took him to the vet. Jumped right into my arms from the vet’s table. That was before he became the cuddly bunny he is now.

Kat got Attached, Bam took a long time to become cuddly, more than a year. Now he IS cuddly and he’s getting cuddlier all the time=) He just doesn’t like to be picked up.

How great that Biggins came to you for protection and comfort! =)
