Maybe I’m just in shock, after several weeks and several attempts to try and cut Buckley’s nails without any luck, well, I may have cut about 3 of his nails, my husband just told me to give up and take him to the vet as it wasn’t woth the stress on all our parts, so I made the appointment for a nail trim.

Our appointment was last night, it’s literally only a 5 minutes car ride up the road.  I got there, and the receptionist just took him from me (normally we go into the consulting room) and she re-appeared less than 5 minutes later with it all done and then the shocker – the bill!!!!!!!  It was £6 ($8), I couldn’t believe it, I was over the moon.  From now on, there is no way I’m even going to attempt to try and cut his nails, for £6 and a 15-minute round trip (evening appointment so no time off work), its definitely worth the stress-free trip and I won’t think twice.  I’m just so surprised that I can get a good service so cheaply.  Very happy bun Mum and hopefully a very happy less-stressed bun.

I have no idea whether I just have a great vet or whether this is the going rate.

Sorry, I just thought I’d share

Wow, what does a “grooming” invovle? – sounds very pampering, but whatever it is sounds like good value. Do the buns like the grooming?

On that particular day every bunny had manicures. Previously Piglet had his Summer haircut (with some very nasty felting) it cost $30 for two hrs. Not anesthetic no stress. Just a handsome happy bunny. Piglet is due for his Autumn trim next week.

And yes that is an excellent rate from your vet…

I have had nail trims at a few different vets and each charged $15, so $8 looks pretty good! I was paying $30 for two buns for a while, but after moving further away from rabbit clinics I eventually figured out how to do it myself.

At first when you said 8$, I thought you were mad because of how expensive that was! Hah.

Anyways, I can imagine that’s a relief. To be honest, we put off cutting Java’s nails for almost 2 months when we first got him because our first attempt ended in failure (his nails were too big for the clipper we had). But now, we got a better nail clipper and it’s all easy peasy. He hates it, but he forgives us immediately if we offer him a plate of little banana pieces. He’s binkying in no time!

I just do it myself, but $8 is cheap

I can get my bunnies free grooming sometimes at the rescue but I never do. I would love to take them one day to one of their spa days though. They brush them, trim their nails, and clean scent glands, I believe. I need to get a stroller if I want to do that. Carrying three rabbits around in a carrier can get heavy. lol Just the bigger two are heavy together…Marley wouldn’t add much to them though. He’s tiny. =P

                          At my friend’s vet’s office, it’s only $5 a bun!

Mine charges $13 per bun. It’s okay if we’re there for something else, but I usually just try to do them myself. Sometimes it just takes more than one go at it.

Whenever we board our buns with the vet – I ask the nurses to clip their nails…and they do it without charging us 🙂

I’ve never had them trimmed by anyone else, and have no trouble doing it…but 15 minutes and 8$, yeh I might just do that lol!!

wow, I wish I could get it done for $8! For the vet to cut my bunny’s nails here in Manhattan is a 20 minute ride on the subway (not including the 10 minute walk to the subway and waiting for the train), at $21 PER BUNNY! I usually drive as it is easier and do it whenever I have intentions to move my car anyway, but then parking is $13…. I’ve just told myself that $55 to take by babies to be groomed is reasonable. 🙂

I’m afraid I’m just so scared of hurting him or cutting his nails too short and making them bleed, I get so stressed. I previously had a hamster who had a misaligned jaw so she couldn’t grind her teeth and I would take her to the vet every 5-6 weeks to have her teeth clipped as I was too scared to do that too as I was afraid to hurt her (yes, same vet). Buckley does not like being picked up or held down, he really struggles, maybe I just need to master the art of flipping him over and then doing it.

However, the sound of a bunny pamper days sounds awesome!
