My bunny ate part of a latex glove.  I found it on the ground and about half of one finger was chewed off. When should I start to freak out?

I don’t know with a bunny, but if a dog does sth like that the advice is to give long fibers, which can wrap themselves around the offensive ingested object and help it move through the bowels. With dogs asparagus is recommended, but with rabbits long fibers are a natural part of their diet so any long fibers should probably do. F ex fresh herbs rinsed in water for hydration. And hay, of course. Latex is rubber and perhaps the bunny’s belly could digest it.

You have to monitor your bunny carefully so that he poops and eats all of today and probably tomorrow as well.

Yes, I agree with bam. Keep an eye on the poop/wee and if your bun starts to act at all out of the ordinary (e.g. remaining stationary for longer periods of time, not wanting to leave their cage to run around etc) you should take them to the vet asap!

Rabbits can also take a certain amount of vaseline– one of the ingredients in that malt hairball remover. I would try adding a little of that too.

Please do let us know! As the others have said, do keep an eye on the poops, hopefully your bun will pass this on her own. Anything out of the ordinary will require a vet’s attention immediately as she may have a blockage.

In situations like these, the best things to watch are food input, poop output, and energy level. Sometimes it helps to empty the litter box so that you can more easily keep track of what’s coming out that other end. If any of the three decrease, then it might be time for a vet visit. I hope everything is alright!
