I am considering getting a companion for my bunny as she lives by herself and I don’t want her to be lonely. I don’t really want to get another bunny because the cage wouldn’t be big enough for two. But I was wondering if a guinea-pig is okay for a companion? If so are males or females better or is there not much of a difference?

        Thanks

Definitely not, it’s very unsafe for the guinea pig, they could be stepped on, kicked, bitten and if your bunny tries to hump them they could break the guinea pigs back. If your guinea pig decides it likes your bunnyfood more than it’s own food it could get scurvy, a guinea pig is a bad companion because bonded piggies don’t act the same as bonded bunnies, they don’t groom. They might even scare your bunny because of their wheeking and other noises.

How much time do you spend with you’re bunny? rabbits should be happy to content when you spend enough time with her. It depends on the rabbit but normally they can thrive on human companionship alone.

Single rabbits can do just fine with human companionship! I wouldn’t worry about her getting lonely as long as you can spend some time with her each day.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I just worry that she might get lonely because she lives outside so probably doesn’t get as much human interaction as a house bunny would.

Can you bring her in? They make great house pets! And the benefits are greater for you and her!

I would but she really hates being inside, she refuses to eat or drink and just sits there. Also my Mum and Dad wouldn’t like her to live in the house as we have mostly carpet. I’m moving out in the next year or so hopefully so maybe when I have my own place she might be able to get used to living inside.

Yes, when you move I would definitely bring her in full-time. It’ll be new so she will be uncomfortable while she gets used to the place anyways, might as well be uncomfortable inside. Rabbits don’t like change generally, but they will come around if given enough time.
