Hey everyone. So I’m thinking of also making my buns a cardboard play house/maze type of thing, and just have a few questions about it. I’m a little bit Dr. Who obsessed, so I was going to make a cardboard TARDIS. (For anyone who isn’t a Whovian, http://drupal.org/files/project-images/TARDIS2.png) So I was going to get 12″x12″ cardboard boxes and make a square of four, and have four levels for them to hope through and just hangout in. Now, for a few questions.

        1. To hold it together, is there a safe glue I can use, and would it be okay to duct tape it as well?

        2. What is a safe high for them to jump from? I want to have several of the panels open so that they can get in and out however they like, I just want to make sure it isn’t too high that they’d hurt themselves jumping down. I was thinking the first two levels would be open, but if it’s safe for them to jump from 3+ feet, please let me know!

        3. Is there bunny-safe paint? If I could, I wanted to paint it, just because it would be fun. But I want to make sure it’s still okay for them to chew. I likely wont end up painting it, but if anyone has any ideas on that, I’d love to hear them!

        Thanks, guys!

Not sure about a safe Glue, but I wouldn’t do duct tape. Do you have any wood working skills or know someone who does? I hate to see you put a bunch of time into a cardboard structure that will probably be rubble in a couple weeks. Wood hidey houses are more resilient and last forever.

I’m not sure about this because I’ve never had a cottontail cottage or one of those mazes you can buy on here… but buster destroys cardboard in NO time. I’d suggest using something else, as it could lose it’s structural integrity really quick (if your bun is anything like mine )

Could you use storage cubes and make something like an NIC cage, and put cardboard around it to make it look like that? Cable ties would be your best friend!

I know this isn’t the same, but I found a rabbit ‘tardis ages ago on disapproving rabbits. Maybe you could model it on that, and if not, the bun is very cute

Oh my god, that’s so fantastic. : D Thanks for all the suggestions! I was actually thinking about it last night, making it out of plywood. I don’t think it’d be difficult to do, and you’re right, it would last way longer. I’ll keep thinking about it! I’ll think about the NIC cubes, too, that could work well. Hmm. Looks like I’ve got some planning to do!

Just a quick input – we’ve got a cardboard castle, it came as part of a kit, and it’s just held together with bits of cardboard bent round and back on themselves, like tabs if that makes sense. Might be another way to keep it together.

Once it’s made I think we’ll need pics! I love Dr Who!
