So about 6 months ago I got little Kaiser, and he was almost completely white. Over the few months, he’s become dark grey in some spots, and it’s getting much darker. I’ve heard about color changes in some rabbits, but I haven’t seen something like this! He seems to almost look like a pointed agouti. Here have some pictures!

When I first got him, he had some light grey tints on his face, but his body was almost completely white.

This is him in November, about two months after I got him. He’d started to grey by that point quite quickly!

I took these pictures today under complete lighting! His ears are completely dark grey, and he is almost completely grey now except for his mustache. Also his tiny feet which are hidden in the pictures are also now dark grey, where they were white before. He’s also lost a lot of his back fluff that he had before, though I think that’s just from him maturing. Is the drastic color change also from maturing? I mean, I think this suits him more, but I’d love to know why he’s doing it

I’m curious if anyone has had a rabbit that has also done some color change, I’d love to see pictures of them too!!

That seems fine. Now is spring, and during that time, they shed. Bean was all black when we adopted him, but since his paws have turned white. It is ADORABLE. I really don’t think this is cause for concern.

Also, if you got him when he was a baby, he could have “grown into” a new color.

I have a little dwarf sized chinchilla colored bunny who changed colors quite a bit since he was a baby. He was white and copper colored as a baby, with a chinchilla kind of pattern, but not much grey. Then the gray starting coming in on his back, kind of like a saddle, until is spread across all of him. Now I can see a little of the white and red on his tummy when he lays on his side, but for the most part he has turned completely chinchilla colored, all grey, black and white. I don’t have any of his baby pics, but I will find an adult one to share!

That is quite a change. I wouldn’t be surprised if he lightens up again as he ages. He’s too adorable.

                  He is really gorgeous!

There was some members talking recently about how their shaded rabbits darken up as the weather cools. I notice this with my seal point bun. She gets more colour over her back.

So cute! I would think would be so fun to watch the colors slowly change over time During the winter, Mimzy seemed to start getting some grey right above her nose. It started out really light and then began to get a little darker, not enough to really show in a pic though. I kept hoping she would get a new grey spot right there but now it is lightening up again Oh well.
Kaiser is adorable, whatever color he is Also love his name

                      D’awwwww!

I know our American bun Penny’s face turned black when it was brown. It was a little funny looking.

Ha! I’m glad a lot of people had some weird changes too. Also thanks for the replies!

It’s quite interesting to look at old photos and wonder if someone snuck in and replaced him with a different rabbit I’m sure it was nothing medical, but it doesn’t hurt to ask! Especially since he’s my first bun!!

If he is a point, or at least a mixed point, maybe he’ll lighten again when it gets warmer.

Moobunny i’d love to see him! That sounds like some coat!!
