A former rabbit hater here, taking the plunge, though Ive studied months on them so far, I feel like I could use some more deliberation before getting one.

        How is this diet?

Unlimited timothy hay (mixed alfalfa hay with timothy if under 6 months old).

greens every day,Romaine lettuce to start, Then I can add mint for his second veggie, and kale every 3 days. I can adjust to what he likes.

1/8 cup of high quality pellets each day (oxbrow T).

A treat once every 2 days and once every time I finish grooming.

Do you think I should add anything else else to this diet or changes? all suggestions would be great!

That diet sounds textbook. No problem there.

What do you mean you were a rabbit “hater”? Did you have a bad experience with rabbits in the past, or… what? Can you clarify that sentence?

Yes, I was wondering that as well. I don’t recommend getting a pet that is an investment for 10 years or more if you’re at all ambiguous. Bunnies are much more work than a guinea pig, for example, and there are long term expenses to plan for as well.

I would recommend you read the information sections via the menus above to learn about setting up a home for a new bunny, diet, care, vet arrangements etc. Many of your questions can be answered before they are even asked if you read through these helpful sections provided here by BB.

No, I was just manipulated by people, never actually had bad experiences with rabbits. people just said they were not smart or affectionate. I believed that for a long time till I felt like studying about them then I completely changed my view on them. I was close minded back then. But I study things now before making judgements.

Thank you for the response, I’m not buying on impulse, I dont plan to get one yet for several months as my house isn’t stable currently, but ill be sure to be fully ready before getting one and be ready for a 10+ year commitment.

Rabbits are only recently becoming understood to be the great house pets that they are. This site, and the House Rabbit Society are good places to read up on accurate info. that dispels a lot of myths.
Generally, bunnies are a smart, trainable with positive reinforcement (look up clicker training), affectionate in their own way and vary greatly in personality. They are not lap animals, nor do they enjoy being held, but they are playful.

Thanks for clearing that up! I agree that research is the way to go. If you have any other questions, please ask. You can also learn a lot through trial and error by reading other threads on this site.

No problem, I think i can teach rabbit haters how smart they truly are.

                      Guess I can ask another.

Even though rabbits are generally happier in pairs, Can a 1 rabbit thrive happily on human friendship alone? I studied this issue A lot, and do notice a lot of people who have one rabbit to be quite happy as long as they get enough attention and affection from their humans. some rabbits are more needy for a rabbit companion than others.

I also noticed they tend to bond deeper with humans with no other rabbits around.

A rabbit can be happy on their own, as Vienna is now demonstrating  but no human can give a bunny as much attention as a bonded pair can each other. A rabbit with an eye problem often needs nothing but a companion to keep their eyes clean. A lone rabbit could need expensive veterinary treatment for the same complaint. If you do decide on a bonded pair, get them from a rescue, as you are new to the world of bunnies they can give you information, you won’t have to bond them, and you’ll be helping abandoned and mistreated rabbits.

I agree with adopting an already bonded pair for your first rabbits. Bonding is very stressful! Good luck with researching! Feel free to ask any questions you can’t seem to find the answer to, please feel free to stop by and ask.
