Hello everyone! First topic in here!

Three months ago I bought a beautiful 20-day-old Holland Lop and the seller told me it was a female rabbit.

However, today I lifted my rabbit and I discovered the following between his legs:

I think my rabbit is a male, isn’t it?

It’s possible, look through the belly fur between the genitals and the legs and if you discover to thumb sized skin patches, that is where the rest of the male bits will develop if they haven’t already.
Have you had your bun to the vet for a check ?

It’s notoriously difficult to determine the sex of baby bunnies, and mistakes are made all the time. As Roberta suggested, a vet checkup will tell you for sure, not to mention that taking your bunny in to the vet for a pre-neuter/baseline health checkup is a good idea.

              Welcome Javier : )

The testicles will sit each side and slightly above the genital mound. (toward stomach more then tail). It looks like the right one has descended already? Being 4months old, he should have both by now but sometimes one may not descend. They can also pull them back up!!

Too many sellers let the rabbits go too young. It doesn’t give these rabbits the optimum start. I hope you haven’t had any health issues with your bun and that it remains that way.

Would love to see any other pictures of him. Some of his other end perhaps lol

I haven’t taken him to the vet yet, but I will on this wednesday.

My bad. He deserves to be introduced more properly lol

                Some pictures of him:

His thing isn’t still hanging out like that is it? It should go back into its sheath. If it doesn’t retract, he may have fur wrapped around it preventing it from going back in. If that’s the case, it’s an emergency and he needs the vet right away.

No, it isn’t hanging out permanently. It isn’t that visible now.

It’s definitely a penis, isn’t it? (I couldn’t check if he has testicles. He wouldn’t let me do it!)

                          I vote YES.

Did you happen to view the parents? I’m not overly familiar with holland lops but your bunny looks more a mini lop to me. Or a holland/mini cross maybe. His weight when fully grown should tell you more.

Is he up for a name change? Some names are unisex so that’s easy. Also, plenty people have kept the 1st name after discovering the sex of the bunny wasn’t what they initially thought. I think its rather cute and the rabbits don’t really care what they are called.

Yes, I viewed the parents, but I can’t really know if they are holland or mini lops. I was told they were holland lops anyway. When I take him to the vet, I guess he will tell me what breed it is.

He was originally named “Pompín” (I guess that, in English, that would be something like Little Pom Pom )

I think he can keep the name, can’t he? lol

By the way, here is the picture where he declares to be a little man!

                                  Pompín – sounds like a great name for a bunny. : )

I don’t think my son and I are going to be too worried about his baby’s sex as it is likely the only one we will have but it’s good to have pictures to clue us in as to what to look for!
