Hi everyone, I’m a long-time browser + information-seeker, and am now excited to start contributing to this great community.

My mom was inspired + comforted by this section of the forums and asked me to share with you a poem she wrote in memorial to her beloved rabbit companion, Belle, who passed away yesterday.

        My Little Friend:

Today I lost the most gentle spirited creature I have ever known.

        My heart is breaking.

To those of you who have ever loved a rabbit so, you will understand my pain.

To those of you out there that have not yet had the chance to love a bunny, I hope that you

will get the opportunity to do so one day. What an unexpected joy you will find.

        To my dearest Belle:

You where quiet, shy, and undemanding, yet your unspoken sounds and affection stole my heart. You trusted me to hold you in my arms, and to keep you safe. I will miss the way you held your head down so that I may pet you there.

How beautiful you were with your strong hare like features, like you came out of a story book, or a famous painting.

I pray you are in Heaven now among the green pastures, safe from harm, running free. Wait for me there.

Goodbye my little friend. Thank-you for sharing your life with mine…

        -Mary Q

              Thanks you two.

Here’s a photo of her as a young bun that I couldn’t find when I posted the poem.
