My buns are supposedly litter trained. One has never had great habits but the majority of time, the litter box is used. After over a year in their new location, their “yard” (xpen area surrounding their condo) is generally clean and it’s mostly limited to their condo surrounding the litter box. However, I also let them free range when I am home on the 2nd floor which means access to my bedroom. The poo piles in my room are getting larger and larger (20+ pellets overnight). I’ve put down a shower curtain and a littler box on the curtain in a corner so now the piles occur primary on the opposite corner -_-. If I put something there, the piles will just move. Along with the piles are of course pee though they are mostly small spots.

This behavior has gotten much worse since I came home from a long vacation (almost a month).

I have of course cleaned with vinegar and nature’s miracle, and have also tried just leaving it and removing but not using solvents.

So the piles are just in your bedroom? they dont do this in other areas on the second floor?
Do you put hay in the extra litterbox you’ve given them? Is it big enough for them both to fit in at the same time?

Well, the second floor is only their room, my bed room and bathroom, and the hallway connecting their room and mine but yes, only in my room in corners or right beside the litter box.
I don’t always put hay but I have before, as well as pellets in a bowl. I’ve tried putting two litter boxes next to each other. Each box is roughly the same size as their normal litter box.

Were they prevented from going on there while you were away?

Makes me think they’re remarking territory. Which would mean it might be temporary. Hopefully!

Does they room smell of fragrances or air fresheners?

I’m not sure how you can prevent it aside from finding out why they do it or preventing them from accessing the room.
