I’m not familiar with the metoclopromide syrup. But do you have any Critical Care on hand to try to syringe feed your bun? If not that do you have some pellets? You can try to make a pellet mush with a bit of pumpkin in it and syringe feed it your bun to get some food into her stomach.

How are you trying to feed her the metoclopromide? As per Skipper’s Mama’s suggestion, a syringe is usually the best way to force-feed – insert the tip of the syringe behind the front teeth and squeeze it into her mouth. If she’s not eating much, I doubt that putting the syrup on her food will work very well. Critical care or pellet mush are both great options too. I hope she feels better soon!

              Hello thanks for the replies.

no I don’t have a critical care but I’ve heard people talking about it on here. Would it be helpful?

my bunny (Oscar – boys name but we found out she’s a girl whoops) started to eat a significant amount of hay and cabbage compared to what she was after the vet gave her the gut medicine ….. Which we were supposed to full low up at home every 5 hour but I cannot get my bunny to catch her to use the syringe for the medicine so she’s not gotten it

              .

i will ring the vet today to see if I can put it over her hay/pellets

              thank you again

Can you try to lure your bunny into a carrier with a treat? It’s important that she gets the medicine the vet prescribed.

I’m guessing she won’t eat it on her won since it probably tastes very bad.

I had a similar problem with Thane. I found that bringing him somewhere he’s not used to – say the bathroom or something – and wrapping him in a towel then just push up one side of her mouth with your finger and slowly use the syringe to feed your bun.

Worked miracles for me, Thane will not take medicine from me any other way.

Was the follow-up dose every 5 hours only if she still wasn’t eating?

Hey emmie, thanks for the suggestion of taking her to a new room will have to try that! I tried wrapping her in a towel but she was even more scared.
Jerseygirl yes that was it although she begone to eat a lot more after the vet gave it to her so it was to just carry it on after to ensure she’s eating and her gut is okay.
The vet said to put it over her food, my bunnys to cleaver and ate everything but the food with medicine on it!!
