My bunny likes to contanstly tip over his food bowl, wether there’s food in it or not.I thought it was the brand of pellets I was mixing with his normal pelllet food, but he eats it no problem BEFORE he decides that he’s finished munching and topple the remaining food into the bottom of the grate. He likes the bowl to be in a certain spot from what I’ve noticed, but sometimes even then he tips it. I tried giving him toys to push and pull around, but he still tips the bowl over…then plays with his toys.

Any particular reason why he’d do this?

Silly bunny – it just sounds like the bowl is one of his favorite toys! Generally, ceramic pet food bowls bowls are pretty un-tippable and usually do the trick. Is the bottom of his cage a grate?

Yes.its removable in case he gets heavier. The food falls into the pan at the bottom where his waste is, so I have to refill the bowl all the time XP

Why don’t you take the grate out, then even if he tips it, the food will still be edible? Some buns like to tip their bowls, I agree with Peppy, it’s a game to them.

One of my buns did this all the time too. I ended up getting one of the plastic bowls that screws to the bars of the cage because even with a heavy ceramic bowl he just threw it around the cage. Now I have no food mess. I actually use one for water too as both my buns seem to enjoy drinking water from a bowl better than from a water bottle.

One of my buns loved to tip his bowl and toss it all around. I got him a stainless steel dog bowl with smooth edges that he can’t pick up with his teeth. So no more tossing his treats 🙂
