My darling little bun has been lying to me all this time!  We’ve had him for almost 5 months now and I’ve been worrying that he’s not relaxed as he always looks like he’s ready to pounce.  He only ever sits in the meatlof position and I can honestly say I have NEVER seen him sleep.  However the other day I was sitting at the kitchen table reading a magazine and Buckley was on the floor standing guard to the front of his cage where he always sits, the edge of the table was blocking my view of him so I’m assuming he couldn’t see me either (apart from my legs!), anyway, I moved to get up and there he was laying on the floor!!!!!  He looked so comfy and adorable.  As soon as he saw me he jumped up and resumed the meatlof position.

Am I to presume that when I’m not around he’s all relaxed and flops but when he hears me coming he sits up?  I do want him to be relaxed and comfy and I would love him to flop when I’m around )

He’s not been lying to you, he’s just forgotten to mention to you that he flops once in a while when you’re not around =)

I think it’s just a matter of time before he’ll flop in your presence as well.

They can relax in meatloaf-mode too, meatloafing doesn’t necessarily mean they’re all wary and tense.

Rabbits can sleep with their eyes open so he’s probably been snoozing this whole time! Cheeky bun.

I didn’t know buns sleep with their eyes open and for the longest time, was extremely worried they never got any sleep. I also wondered why they just sat there staring at me for hours.

Your bun seems to have gone to the same school as my male bun. My male bun refuses to groom my female bun in my presence; he has to keep up appearances I guess. If he’s grooming her and sees me, he will immediately stop, turn away from her, and go into meatloaf.
