        Hi everyone.

Everyone talks about how much their bunnies love dandelion leaves and in the summer I get TONS of dandelions around my yard. I just wanted to be clear on how to feed them. Do you just feed the leaves around the flower or the flower too.                                                  And also, how could you dry them to make them a crunchy snack ? Could you just leave them out to dry. Sorry, one more question, how would you store the fresh and dried ones? I know its a lot of questions but I just want to be sure before I am sorry.

I get my buns dandelion greens from the grocery stores that specialize in fresh produce. And it is just the leaves – not the flowers. I’ve never dried them – but after I rinse them off well, I wrap them in a paper towels and then keep them in storage bags. They don’t keep that long, 1 week at most. But the bunnies do really love them.

As long as you don’t use pesticides in your yard, the leaves should be perfectly safe. Just pick them, put them in a bag, and keep them as you would normally keep your other veggies. I imagine bunnies would probably love them dried too. As for the flowers, I’m not completely sure, but I imagine they are probably fine (unless someone who knows better says otherwise!).

Dandelion greens are a fave of my buns. They’ve never had the fresh flowers but they love the dried ones in hay topper mixes. I’m too afraid to use dandelions from my yard in summer because I worry if a neighbour a few houses down uses pesticide and it’s windy, etc…. I’m a bit paranoid with stuff like that.

That’s so interesting that they can eat the flowers too! But like LittlePuffyTail – I’m not sure I’ll be picking any from our yard to feed them…just to be safe.

My bunny LOVES danelion! I bought some from the grocery store recently and they are super cheap! I can’t wait to pick them from the yard… I live in the country, so I luckily don’t have to worry about pestidices. My parents are in the city though and there’s noway I’d feed my bunny those dandelions(they’ve used weed man in the past and still do I think)… You could go out to the country though and find a spot to pick them!
