I’ll preface this by saying that my 3 month old mini-rex has always been fearful and timid. However over the past month or so she has really opened up to me. She follows me everywhere, cuddles on my bed with me, and crawls into my lap to be petted.

This morning I took her to the vet to get her nails trimmed and she was absolutely mortified the entire time. When I brought her home and put her down on my bedroom floor she ran under the bed. She came out once after that to eat but has been under there the whole day ever since. I even tried to lure her out with treats but she promptly turned her back to me.

It’s just so heart-breaking because she was so loving and trusting and I feel like I’ve erased all of that in one day. Will she forget and get back to normal ever?

She’ll forgive you. My bird and my rabbits both have to have some “me time” to recover after a vet visit.

Early on, our Baxter used to hold grudges for about 48 hours…after we’d have visitor’s over, change or re-arrange his living space, had him neutered 😮 Now it takes a couple hours… I think as more time has passed, he’s learned to trust us and tends to forgive/move on faster.

Wishing you a speedy return to the loving/trusting relationship.

She might be annoyed, but she’ll get over it. The human mother in me just thinks, “It’s for your own good. Be mad at me all you want, but that won’t change the fact that I’m going to take care of you!” LOL!

As you become more comfortable, hopefully you can do nail trims at home, so she won’t be dealing with a vet visit each month for trims.

She doesn’t hate you, she’s just stressed out and unhappy. Most bunnies give us attitude after nail trims. Like Beka says “It’s for their own good”. I tell Olivia “Suck it up, Princess”

So she finally came out from under the bed and is back to her usual curious self.

But it’s strange, the vet visit seems to have scared the bun-puberty tendencies right out of her! She went through a brief period of clingyness and attachment to me and that accompanied her completely forgetting to use the litter box.

However after the vet visit she uses the litter box but ignores me!

Ahh well, you win some you lose some.
