In my bunnies room there is a bed the buns re allowed on it but not under it because they chew on the bed and wreck it. To stop them I surrounded it with an xpen about a month ago. However the little darlings will not leave it alone!! They bite at the xpen, pull at it and dig at it. It’s driving me a little crazy because they won’t give up trying to get at the bed. They have so many other things to chew and dig but they don’t they are obsessed with the bed!

I have tried clapping and saying no it doesn’t work I have tried squirting them with water, doesn’t work.

Does anyone have any suggestions to stop them? I’d love to take the bed out but I’m not allowed to. I’m worried if I can’t get them to stop my mother will kick them out :s

I would try re-enforcing the xpen by using wire ties to attach additional squares from NIC cubes (Wire cube shelving, there is a post/link about it in bunny habitats and behavior on the blog). I use “barricades” made of NIC squares. For the most part they keep Pebbles away from areas I don’t want her near, but each day she grows more curious and fearless. >.> On another thread, someone suggested spraying the carpet with perfume to discourage a bunny for chewing and digging at the carpet, perhaps this will help for you? Also, another user suggested using one of those… devices that produce a very unpleasant sound for bunnies and small animals. (It’s kind of like a pest repellent device.) So you put the device under the bed where they want to get at, and when you see them going for that location, you have remote and activate it. The bunnies will then associate that location with an unpleasant sensation.
