Hey everyone! So I got my little bunny Roo last thursday. He is 3 months old. Even the first day I would do little things like place all his poop in his litter box and when he would pee i would wipe it with a paper towel and put it in the litter box as well. I wanted to get him comfortable with me and his new home for a couple days before starting training. I know it takes time but I was just wondering if anyone had any tips and ask if 3 months was a bit too early for him to understand? He doesn’t really seem to understand at all.. but then again it has barely been a week lol. I put another litter box in the area where he plays and usually goes and when he does poo i move him to the box but he will sit in there and then as soon as he jumps out he will poo right infront of the box! and this will happen over and over. The reason why I am worried I am doing something wrong is because I have read a lot of people that are successful very quickly. Any ways.. thanks in advance!

Sometimes, litter training isn’t so much about you training your bunny and telling him where to poo and pee, but working together to figure out how to make sure that he always goes in the litter box. In this case, I would recommend putting the litter box in the place that he usually does his business if he’s already chosen it as his toilet, instead of trying to make him use another spot.

Have you tried putting hay in the litter box? They say that bunnies poo while they eat.

the boys did that when they were 12 weeks. they slept in their litter box and peed next to it!! I kept on moving it where they were peeing but it never worked!! I ended up putting 4 corner litter boxes in their cage!!! little extreme but it worked. they slept in one and pottied in the other ones!! keep on wiping up pee and poo and putting it in there!! also I switched to pine pellets and put newspaper and hay on top and they liked that better too. now that they just got neutered they are almost 100% litter trained with only 2 litter boxes now. I think spaying and neutering helps with litter training them. I had a lop eared bunny when I was little and it was potty trained at 7 weeks old and continued for years. I think some bunnies get it better than others!! dont get frusterated . baby bunnies are soooo messy and stinky!! my boys are 4 1/2 mos. now and finally are just catching on!!
