On a dark and not very stormy night, I was sitting on the couch and Thumper was lying on the floor beside me while Flower was lying on the other end of the apartment.  SUDDENLY Flower lept to her feet, tore across the apartment at full speed, hid behind the couch and thumped her foot with all her might.

This actually happens somewhat often.  There doesn’t appear to be anything that causes this but Flower is very apparently frightened.  Does anybunny else do this?  Perhaps my apartment is haunted by bunny-predators?

Has she always been like this, or is this a recent change in behavior? It’s definitely possible that Flower may just be a little more high strung than Thumper. Bunnies have excellent senses that can detect environmental changes that go unnoticed by the vast majority of humans, and Flower may just be an extra cautious bunny, haha.

She IS pretty intense. Sometimes when I walk toward them, Thumper will perk his ears up and Flower JUMPS to her feet prepared to…stare at me intensely? The sudden running across the apartment is a bit more dramatic than usual. It’s possible the downstairs neighbors are potheads and Flower “just say[s] NO”.

Do you have open curtains? Maybe birds flying past or shadows causes her reaction? Does she seem more skittish when they are smoking? Is it the scent she doesn’t like or are they just making a lot of noise?

The curtains generally are open. The windows face the alley so I doubt it’s birds. The new downstairs neighbors are pretty loud, but Flower doesn’t really hear that well (because she’s a lop?); that’s why I was thinking something other than sound. I don’t even notice the pot smell anymore but maybe I’ll pay more attention to see what’s freaking her out.

rabbit noses are more sensitive than ours to stuff like that, so I would not be surprised if she’s irritated by it.

I just find it hard to be irritated by a smell. I can see if the smoke was maybe getting through some how but then you’d notice it too. Get on her level and see out the window from her view. From your view you might just see a building wall but maybe from her view she can see the sky and a passing bird every now and again.

I don’t know, the smell of pot gives me massive migraines, and it is, after all, a drug that alters your senses, so it may be affecting her in ways we don’t know.

OK, I have determined it is not the pot. It was pretty strong today and no effect on her. I did notice this morning that from their condo, she would be able to see a bit of sky. Maybe that’s it.
